RE: EFES: Re: EFES letter to all European Governments, October 1, 2001

Bonjour Monsieur Mathieu,

Stefano Martinelli

Thanks, Bozo,
We are also writing to Prime Ministers of the candidate countries.
On the other hand, be aware that the consultation is not an EFES consultation but well an official consultation organized by the European Commission.
Best regards
Marc

Dear Marc!

It is important that EFES invites also Prime Ministers of the candidate states to make them aware, that EO is an important European issue despite the fact that it is not a matter of the negotiations.
You can use the same letter just omitting the words" agreed by you" in the third paragraph.
Kind regards!

Dear Mister Prime Minister,

On behalf of EFES I would like to invite you to nominate a representative of your government to participate in the international conference on employee ownership on Friday 23 November 2001, which is being hosted by the Belgian Presidency of the European Union.
You will be aware of the positive impact that employee share ownership and participation have on productivity, in particular, and economic and social development and employment, in general. This factor can be of high importance, since it is estimated at 1% a year additional growth of the GDP. In terms of employment in Europe, this is potentially thousands of additional jobs.
In this context, the Social Agenda agreed by you at the Lisbon Summit in 2000 invited the European Commission to publish an Action Plan and Communication on Financial Participation before the end of 2001.
To this end, the Commission has just launched a consultation procedure and your government was invited to respond.
The document of consultation of the Commission is available on our web site www.efesonline.org  and we opened a forum on the site to discuss the matter.
We draw your attention to the “European Action Programme” which our Federation based on the Resolution of the European Parliament adopted in January 1998.
We look forward to you and your government´s support for these efforts and encouragement of the European Commission to advance this work.
Yours sincerely
