EFES: OFFICIAL CONSULTATION ON EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP / COG EFES GROUP

THE EUROPEAN COMMMISSION LAUNCHES A WIDE CONSULTATION ON EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP IN EUROPE (EFES MAIL NEWS N° 7 - 8.20.2001)

You are invited to take part!
The European Commission launches a wide consultation on financial participation in the European Union.
Should we promote that in Europe? How? What are the suggestions?...
The goal is to prepare an official "Communication" and an "Action Plan". The Commission will publish these documents in 2001. This is a result of our efforts, which convinced the Council of Ministers at the Lisbon Summit last year, to put the issue on the European Social Agenda.
For employee ownership in Europe, it could be a great step forward.
Everyone is invited to take part and send their comments and suggestions before the 30th of October 2001.
You find the working document of the Commission on the web:
- in English on http://europa.eu.int/comm/employment_social/news/2001/aug/sec_2001_1308_en.pdf
- in French on http://europa.eu.int/comm/employment_social/news/2001/aug/sec_2001_1308_fr.pdf
- in German on http://europa.eu.int/comm/employment_social/news/2001/aug/sec_2001_1308_de.pdf

What should you do?
EFES organizes a forum on the web through the COG (Capital Ownership Group).

Let's remember that the European Parliament voted for an excellent Resolution in 1998. This Resolution proposed to the European Commission a lot of practical, concrete, realistic actions. EFES took this Resolution as the basis of her own EUROPEAN ACTION PROGRAMME in 1999.
You find these two documents on:
http://home.pi.be/~pin13904/fasuk51.htm

This action programme expects especially that the European Commission:
- set up a permanent working group;
- set up a European programme with adequate financial resources;
- create an European institute for financial participation.

Shouldn't we expect that the European Commission should take the Resolution of the European Parliament and EFES European Action Programme as the basis for her future work? What do you think?

Very best regards
